Senior IPS officer CV Anand has been appointed as Telangana’s Director General of Police (Head of Police Force).
The 1991 batch official currently serves as Special Chief Secretary, Home Department. He has been transferred and posted to the top police post in the apex scale.
He will assume charge on May 1, 2026. The incumbent DGP Sivadhar Reddy will retire on April 30.
Anand has held several key positions, including postings in naxal-affected districts and Commissioner roles in Vijayawada, Cyberabad, and Hyderabad.
He also served on central deputation with the CISF and is known for introducing innovative, technology-driven policing initiatives.
His appointment is seen as a significant step for Telangana Police, bringing in a seasoned officer with extensive field and administrative experience, along with a strong sporting background.
A native of Kuntloor village in Hayathnagar mandal of Rangareddy district, Anand was born and brought up in Hyderabad.
He studied at Vidyaranya High School and Hyderabad Public School, Begumpet, excelling in academics and sports. He later completed his BA in Mathematics, Economics, and Statistics from Nizam College and pursued MA in Economics from Osmania University.
Anand comes from a distinguished family background. His father, C. Damodar Reddy, served in the Indian Forest Service, rising from a Forest Ranger in 1950 to retire as a Conservator of Forests. His brother was an officer in rhe Indian Air Force (IAF).
