In view of the continuous torrential rain in Rudraprayag and the adverse weather forecast issued by the Meteorological Department, the district administration has gone into a state of high alert. Prioritizing the safety of pilgrims and travelers, the administration has issued immediate orders to halt all travelers currently on the pilgrimage route at the nearest holding areas and safe locations.
Under the directives of the District Magistrate, clear instructions have been issued to officials stationed at landslide-prone areas, sensitive zones, and various stages of the pilgrimage route not to allow any traveler to proceed until weather conditions normalize. Orders have been given to accommodate all travelers in safe holding areas, ensure arrangements for food, lodging, and other essential amenities, and maintain constant monitoring.
The administration has directed Sector Magistrates, police forces, and teams from the DDRF, SDRF, NDRF, and relevant departments—deployed across all sensitive areas of the district, including the Kedarnath pilgrimage route—to maintain a high level of vigilance. Officials have been instructed to immediately report any disaster, landslide, road blockage, accident, or other emergency situation to the District Emergency Operation Center so that swift relief and rescue operations can be carried out.
Continuous rainfall has raised concerns regarding potential landslides and road blockages in the mountainous regions. Consequently, the administration is keeping a close watch on the situation, with various departments monitoring sensitive locations. The district administration has appealed to travelers, local residents, and pilgrims to strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the Meteorological Department and the administration. They have been advised to avoid rumors and refrain from undertaking unnecessary travel until the weather improves. The administration emphasized that the safety of travelers is paramount and no risks will be taken.
For emergency assistance, the administration has provided the following contact numbers: 8958757335 and 8218326386. District Magistrate Vishal Mishra clarified that the movement of travelers would resume only after weather conditions normalize and the route is declared completely safe.
