Hyderabad: Charminar ACP Chandrasekhar’s wife Hema Latha allegedly died by suicide at her Alwal residence on Sunday.
Police suspect that prolonged health issues may have driven her to take the extreme step.
She was found hanging after repeated phone calls from her husband went unanswered, prompting their son to break open the bedroom door.
According to Alwal Police, Hema Latha (around 50) was alone at the family’s residence in Sai Brindavan Colony when the incident occurred.
ACP Chandrasekhar reportedly tried calling her several times, but she did not respond. Concerned, he alerted their son, Chandrhas, and asked him to rush home.
When Chandrhas reached the house, he found the bedroom locked from inside. With the assistance of the apartment watchman, the door was broken open. Hema Latha was found hanging from the ceiling fan inside the room.
Family members immediately shifted her to a private hospital in Kompally, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Hema Latha is survived by her husband, son Chandrhas and daughter Geethanjali. She was running a jewellery and clothing business from the family’s building.
In his complaint to the police, Chandrhas stated that his mother had been suffering from chronic stomach and spinal ailments for a long time.
He also informed the police that a massage therapist had visited the house earlier in the day as part of her treatment.
The family believes the prolonged health problems had left her mentally distressed, which may have led to the suicide.Alwal Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Officials said the exact circumstances leading to the death will be ascertained during the course of the probe.
