Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has called for expediting the process for land acquisition for critical elevated corridors and radial road networks across Greater Hyderabad.
In a meeting with top officials from the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) and the Hyderabad Road Development Corporation Limited (HRDCL), Chief Minister Revanth Reddy called for consolidating all road infrastructure under a unified system.
He emphasized that road planning, funding, maintenance, and land pooling must be integrated to support the city’s expanding footprint. The unified system will oversee the Outer Ring Road (ORR), Regional Ring Road (RRR), city flyovers, underpasses, and radial arteries.
Key Directives & Project Deadlines
December 9 Deadline for Radial Road 1: CM Revanth Reddy set a firm December 9 deadline to finish Radial Road 1, which connects Kongara Kalan to the proposed Future City.
Elevated Corridor Progress: Officials were directed to clear hurdles on Elevated Corridors I and III, with particular focus on speeding up construction on the stretch connecting Banjara Hills to Shilpa Layout and finalizing the Badvel trumpet interchange.
Traffic Department Involvement: City traffic police must be actively integrated into the design and construction phases of major road projects to minimize bottlenecks and safety risks.
Zero Tolerance for Middlemen: The Chief Minister issued a stern warning against external intermediaries in land-pooling schemes, insisting that land acquisition proceed directly and transparently.
Overhaul of TDR System: Instructing a complete digital transition for Transferable Development Rights (TDR), the CM directed that TDR certificates be issued strictly for government-acquired land to eliminate administrative irregularities.
Warning Over ORR Maintenance and Accidents
Expressing strong displeasure over the upkeep of the Outer Ring Road, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy questioned officials regarding frequent traffic snarls and fatal accidents along the expressway.
He admonished the maintenance agency responsible for failing to enforce safety standards and ordered HMDA authorities to implement immediate traffic safety measures to curb mishaps on the high-speed corridor.
