Yesterday, June 23, several institutions and religious sites in Uttarakhand received emails threatening to blow them up with bombs, causing widespread panic across the state. However, no actual incidents subsequently came to light. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has now adopted a stern stance on this matter, vowing strict action against the perpetrators. He made it clear that those attempting to disrupt law and order would not be spared at any cost.
Security agencies in the state have been on high alert following a series of threatening emails targeting various government institutions, municipal bodies, and religious sites in recent times. Addressing the issue in detail for the first time, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the government is not being complacent and that a serious investigation into the entire matter is underway.
CM Dhami emphasized that the threats received by the state government are being treated with the utmost seriousness. He stated that relevant agencies have been instructed to investigate, and strict legal action will be taken against any individual or organization found involved in such activities. The Chief Minister categorically declared that any attempt to undermine law and order or disturb social harmony in Uttarakhand would not be tolerated.
Notably, institutions such as the Mussoorie Municipal Council and the Haridwar Municipal Corporation have recently received threatening emails. These emails also mentioned significant religious sites like Haridwar, Rishikesh, Kedarnath, and Badrinath.
According to reports, several of the emails were written in Punjabi and allegedly contained references linked to pro-Khalistan ideology. Consequently, investigative agencies are examining various aspects of the case with great seriousness.
Following the receipt of these threatening emails, the police, intelligence agencies, and cyber experts have been mobilized. Security arrangements at the concerned institutions and sensitive locations have also been reviewed. Instructions have been issued to further strengthen security measures, given the large influx of pilgrims during the Char Dham Yatra and the Hemkund Sahib Yatra.
