The global city of Hyderabad is all set for another international conference. The BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group Meeting will be held in Hyderabad from today. This conference assumes great importance in the context of India’s presidency of BRICS-2026. Representatives of the BRICS countries will discuss key issues such as eradication of corruption, extradition of economic offenders, and transparent governance.
Hyderabad is hosting the second meeting of the BRICS-2026 Anti-Corruption Task Force, chaired by India. The two-day meeting will be held from today with the theme “Economic Stability, Cooperation, Innovation and Building for Sustainability”. The meeting will be inaugurated by Rachna Shah, Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training, Union Government. The conference will be attended by representatives of BRICS member countries, policymakers, experts and representatives of law enforcement agencies. The next work will be based on the outcomes of the first meeting held virtually in June.
In this summit, BRICS member countries will discuss extensively on curbing cross-border corruption and enhancing transparency in governance. They will further strengthen cooperation between countries in extraditing fugitives in corruption cases and identifying the whereabouts of criminals. Countries will also share their experiences and best practices in dealing with corruption incidents arising in the digital assets and fintech sectors. A special program will be organized tomorrow on the topic of ethical governance through innovation and technology-based systems.
The BRICS summit assumes greater significance as India is chairing it. Analysts and experts believe that the summit will lay the foundation for stronger cooperation among the BRICS countries in corruption-free governance and institutional capacity building.
