Delhi: The Delhi Police took major action ahead of the CJP protest scheduled for today, October 10, at Jantar Mantar. Following the detention of Dhruv Rathee, reports have emerged that Abhijit Dipke, Saurabh Das, Ashutosh Ranka, and their associates have also been detained. According to police sources, after landing at Delhi Airport, they were advised not to enter the New Delhi area; they were detained after failing to heed this advice.
CJP is holding a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar today, October 10. Delhi Police action is underway even before the protest begins. After Dhruv Rathee, Abhijit Dipke, Saurabh Das, and Ashutosh Ranka have now also been detained. In fact, Abhijit Dipke was detained right off the flight before he could reach Jantar Mantar. After the flight landed at Delhi Airport, Delhi Police personnel boarded the aircraft and detained Abhijit Dipke, Saurabh Das, and their associates.
According to Delhi Police sources, a police team boarded the aircraft at IGI Airport. They initially tried to persuade Abhijit Dipke and his associates not to go to the New Delhi area or Jantar Mantar. However, they did not comply. Consequently, the Delhi Police were compelled to detain Abhijit Dipke and his associates directly from the aircraft.
Sources state that the Delhi Police detained Abhijit Dipke from inside the plane at IGI Airport. He has not yet been taken out of the airport premises. Several other CJP leaders have also been detained alongside Abhijit Dipke. When the police boarded the aircraft to speak with him, Abhijit Dipke remarked, “You have come to arrest me, but I have come here to get arrested myself.” It is noteworthy that he will now be taken to a detention center.
In a statement, the CJP has condemned the detention of Dipke and his team. The Cockroach Janata Party stated that this was part of a premeditated move to prevent its leaders from reaching the venue of their proposed protest. It is worth noting that these CJP leaders, including Abhijit Dipke, had traveled from Mumbai to Delhi. The CJP termed this action a violation of the freedom of movement and demanded the immediate and unconditional release of the three leaders.
Prior to Abhijit Dipke, the Delhi Police detained Dhruv Rathee. The Cockroach Janata Party (CauJaPa) is holding a protest at Jantar Mantar today. Earlier, on Saturday, YouTuber Dhruv Rathee was detained from his residence in Gurugram’s Sector 56; he had arrived to participate in this protest. Tight security arrangements have been put in place across the national capital in view of the demonstration.
Earlier, the Delhi Police had refused permission for the Jantar Mantar protest, citing security reasons and procedural requirements. Additionally, 45 Delhi Metro stations have been closed, and several trains have been cancelled. Meanwhile, the police have intensified preventive detentions and deployed personnel at strategic locations to stop protesters from reaching the protest site. So far, the police have detained approximately 150 protesters from various locations in the New Delhi area. The CJP is demanding the resignation of Gyanesh Kumar.
