Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has reduced the size of his official convoy, which now consists of only four vehicles. The Telangana Chief Minister implemented these changes keeping in mind the message of austerity advocated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
It is well known that, following the conflict in the Middle East, the Prime Minister appealed to the public to adopt measures of conservation and, in a personal gesture, reduced the number of vehicles in his own convoy. Responding to the Prime Minister’s appeal, CM Revanth Reddy has also scaled down the size of his convoy. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister traveled to Delhi today; reports indicate that he is visiting the national capital to attend a private event.
As part of a broader effort to conserve fuel, several government functionaries—including the country’s Prime Minister—are reducing the size of their official convoys. The Governor of Telangana has also decided to halve the size of his convoy and has duly informed the concerned officials regarding this decision.
CM Revanth Reddy recently issued directives to the police administration to reduce the number of vehicles in his convoy. In response, the CM Security Group (CMSG)—a unit of the Internal Security Wing (ISW)—took the necessary measures. Consequently, the Chief Minister’s convoy has now been restricted to four vehicles. On Friday, the Chief Minister toured Hyderabad utilizing this streamlined convoy.
The Chief Minister traveled amidst regular traffic, foregoing the use of a dedicated ‘Green Channel.’ It is a matter of public knowledge that Revanth Reddy had recently expressed his displeasure regarding the practice of halting regular traffic on both sides of the road during his tours in Hyderabad. He issued explicit instructions that disruptions to regular traffic be minimized to the greatest extent possible by strictly adhering to a ‘single-lane’ protocol. In compliance with these directives, the traffic police are now taking steps to ensure that the Chief Minister’s convoy moves within the flow of regular traffic. BJP President Travels by Metro: Heeding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s suggestion to reduce petrol and diesel consumption and promote public transport, BJP Telangana President Ramchander Rao traveled by metro. He took the metro to attend an event in Jubilee Hills. Leaving his car behind, he boarded a metro train and traveled from Tarnaka to Jubilee Hills.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Deputy CM Reduce Their Convoys: Prime Minister Modi, who had appealed to the public to adopt fuel-saving measures, is himself setting an example. Inspired by this spirit, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and Minister Nara Lokesh have all reduced the size of their vehicle convoys.
Consequently, Chandrababu’s convoy has been reduced from 11 vehicles to just four. The Deputy Chief Minister’s convoy has also been cut in half. Minister Lokesh’s convoy was scaled down from four vehicles to two, and a minivan was arranged for his security personnel. In this manner, the ministers of Andhra Pradesh have also reduced their convoys and implemented fuel-saving measures.
