Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is visiting Champawat today, June 29. During this visit, he announced significant development projects for the district, inaugurating and laying the foundation stones for 17 schemes worth ₹123.79 crore. He inaugurated the Jim Corbett Trail and performed the *Bhoomi Pujan* (ground-breaking ceremony) for a proposed City Center, reiterating his government’s resolve to transform Champawat into a model district of Uttarakhand.
At an event held at the district headquarters, he inaugurated eight completed development projects worth ₹27.79 crore and laid the foundation stones for nine new projects worth ₹96 crore. He also launched the Jim Corbett Trail, developed at a cost of approximately ₹3.50 crore.
The Chief Minister stated that the government’s objective goes beyond merely constructing roads and buildings; the aim is to develop a Champawat that offers employment to the youth, self-reliance to women, prosperity to farmers, and new opportunities to traders. He announced that a modern multi-level parking and shopping complex (City Center) would be constructed in Champawat town at a cost of ₹62.33 crore.
Additionally, facilities such as a Women’s Technology Park, a modern library, a knowledge center, an open gym, and other civic amenities will be developed. The Chief Minister mentioned that a Women’s Sports College (costing approximately ₹257 crore) and a Science Center (costing ₹58.52 crore) are being established to provide modern sports facilities for women and girls.
Efforts are also underway to boost farmers’ income through the establishment of an agricultural college, the development of *gaushalas* (cow shelters), and the adoption of modern agricultural techniques. He noted that various religious sites—including Maa Purnagiri Dham, Sharda Corridor, Goljyu Corridor, and Maa Varahi Dham—are being developed under the ‘Manaskhand Mandir Mala Mission,’ which will promote religious tourism. The Chief Minister stated that a modern ISBT is being constructed in Tanakpur at a cost of ₹237.74 crore, along with a media center costing ₹14 crore. Meanwhile, work on several important projects is also underway in Lohaghat, Banbasa, and Pati. Following the event, the Chief Minister inaugurated the Atlas Power House Gym located at Khatkana Bridge.
