From locating callers who can’t speak to automatically dispatching the nearest patrol vehicle, Telangana Police’s new AI-powered Dial 112 promises faster emergency assistance.
The upgraded system has already reduced emergency call processing time by nearly 30 per cent, potentially saving crucial minutes during life-threatening situations.
Director General of Police CV Anand, IPS, on Wednesday launched the Next-Generation Telangana Emergency Response Support System (TG-ERSS) at the Telangana Integrated Command and Control Centre (TGiCCC).

He described the system as a major leap towards technology-driven policing and citizen-centric emergency services. The upgraded Dial 112 platform integrates Police, Fire Services, Ambulance Services, Women Safety, Child Protection and Disaster Response under a single emergency number.
Powered by Artificial Intelligence, the system automatically filters duplicate and spam calls, prioritises emergencies based on severity, routes calls to the appropriate agency and recommends the nearest available patrol vehicle for immediate dispatch.
It also converts emergency conversations into text, tracks callers using Location-Based Services (LBS), Advanced Location Services (ALS) and Google Maps, and provides real-time dashboards for monitoring every emergency from start to finish.
The biggest improvement has come in emergency call processing. According to Telangana Police, the average time taken by call takers has reduced from 100 seconds to 69 seconds, while dispatcher time has come down from 90 seconds to 64 seconds.
Overall, the call centre now processes emergencies in 133 seconds, compared to 190 seconds earlier — an improvement of nearly 30 per cent.
