Uttarakhand: A blood component separation unit, established at a cost of approximately ₹50 lakh at the District Hospital in Champawat, was inaugurated on Thursday. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami addressed the event virtually. He stated that the state government is continuously working to realize the resolve of making Champawat a model district. Strengthening healthcare facilities is among the government’s top priorities.
The Chief Minister remarked that Champawat is not merely an assembly constituency for him, but his *Karmabhumi* (land of action). He noted that the establishment of the blood component separation unit would significantly bolster healthcare services in the district. This facility will ensure the timely availability of essential, life-saving blood components to patients during emergencies. This is the first time such a facility has been made available in Champawat district; previously, within the Kumaon division, this facility was available only at the district hospitals in Rudrapur and Pithoragarh.

The Chief Minister mentioned that a state-of-the-art, 50-bed critical care block has been constructed at the District Hospital, Champawat, at a cost of approximately ₹20 crore. Additionally, facilities such as CT scan, MRI, and dialysis units have already been established. Construction work is currently underway at the hospital—at a cost of about ₹11.71 crore—to build a parking area on the lower ground floor and a diagnostic wing and operation theatre on the first and second floors.
The Chief Minister stated that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand is scaling new heights of development. The state government has pledged to transform Champawat into a model district, and systematic work is being carried out across various sectors to achieve this goal. He added that alongside the construction and widening of roads in the district, modern parking facilities are being developed to resolve traffic congestion issues. Construction work for a modern multi-level parking and shopping complex at the Champawat roadways station, costing over ₹62 crore, is set to begin soon. Parking facilities have also been developed at Maa Purnagiri Dham, Reetha Sahib, and the tourist rest house.
The Chief Minister stated that robust infrastructure is being developed in Champawat, keeping future needs in mind. A modern city drainage system is being developed in the district at a cost of over ₹66 crore. Work on underground power lines is also progressing rapidly. Additionally, the district’s drinking water supply system is being strengthened at a cost exceeding ₹240 crore. Key projects such as a Science Center, a Women’s Sports College, and a modern ISBT (Inter-State Bus Terminal) are also giving a new direction to Champawat’s development.
The Chief Minister affirmed the government’s commitment to making Champawat a model district for Uttarakhand in the areas of development, health, education, tourism, and infrastructure. He assured that no vision for Champawat’s development would remain unfulfilled; special emphasis is being placed on connecting every village to the mainstream of development and increasing employment opportunities for the youth.
Health Minister Subodh Uniyal stated that the state government is continuously working to make health services in the state modern, accessible, and people-centric. The establishment of a blood component separation unit at the District Hospital in Champawat will ensure that essential blood components are available locally for patients during critical and emergency situations. This will facilitate timely treatment for patients and reduce their dependence on hospitals in other districts.
