HYDERABAD – The Parade Grounds in Hyderabad transformed into a vibrant tapestry of culture, flavor, and tradition from January 13 to 15, 2026, as it hosted the highly anticipated International Sweets and Kites Festival.
The three-day extravaganza was organized by Cultural Language Indian Connections (CLIC) in prestigious collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Government of Telangana. The event served as a grand celebration of India’s culinary diversity and the global artistry of kite flying.
A Culinary Journey Across India
The highlight of the festival was the massive “Sweets Pavilion,” which showcased an extraordinary array of traditional delicacies. In a unique initiative to promote authentic heritage, the sweets were prepared by homemakers representing every state and Union Territory of India.

From the rich ghevar of Rajasthan to the payasam of Kerala, visitors were treated to a “Mini India” on a plate. This platform not only celebrated traditional recipes passed down through generations but also empowered homemakers by showcasing their culinary skills on an international stage.
High-Flying Spectacles
While the ground was filled with the aroma of sugar and ghee, the sky was a theater of magnificent displays. The Kite Festival segment featured professional kite flyers from across the world, showcasing:
Fancy Kites: Intricate designs including dragons, birds, and geometric wonders.
Global Participation: Flyers from various countries brought their unique cultural techniques to the Hyderabad breeze. Traditional Spirit: Local kite enthusiasts joined in, keeping the Sankranti spirit alive with competitive maneuvers.

The event was officially inaugurated by Mr. Jupally Krishna Rao, the Honorable Minister for Tourism, Government of Telangana. During his keynote address, the Minister lauded the efforts to preserve Indian culture and thanked the participants for making Telangana a hub for international cultural exchange.
