Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has presented a significant gift to the women of the state on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Keeping in mind the convenience, safety, and dignity of women, the CM announced the development of high-tech toilets equipped with modern amenities. Additionally, he announced free travel on state transport (Roadways) buses for women aged 60 and above.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has offered a major gift to women on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. The CM announced that women aged 60 and above will be able to travel for free on state transport buses. It is worth noting that previously, the facility of free travel on these buses was available only to senior citizens aged 65 and above; the CM has now lowered this age limit to 60 years.
Under the ‘PM-eBus Sewa’ scheme, Uttarakhand is set to receive 137 electric buses. Of the 100 buses designated to operate in Dehradun, the CM announced that 10 would be dedicated as ‘Pink e-Buses’ exclusively for women. He stated that this facility would be extended to other regions of the state in a phased manner, ensuring that the maximum number of women can access safe and convenient public transport.
To empower women economically and make them self-reliant, the Chief Minister announced an increase in the concessional bank loan limit under the ‘Mahila Swarozgar Yojana’ (Women’s Self-Employment Scheme) from ₹2 lakh to ₹2.50 lakh. He remarked that the government is continuously striving to provide the necessary capital for self-employment, aiming to transform women from job seekers into job creators.
He also announced the development of high-tech toilets equipped with modern amenities, prioritizing women’s convenience, safety, and dignity. These toilets will place special emphasis on hygiene, privacy, security, and essential facilities for women.
